Yeeeeah. It was getting about that time in my game life that I needed one of these bitches. OKAY. As I have Gabriel in several games and this spans, well, ALL OF THEM (except the first two sections don't really apply to Paradisa, but oh well), PLEASE put the name of the game and your character name in the subject header.
If Your Character Is a Villain, Bully, Jerk, or Asshole, please Dial 1.
1. Can Gabriel target your character- whether fatally or nonfatally- should they fit his MO- keep in mind that if you're just a bully who picks on people weaker than you or a repeat offender of some indiscretion or another (like constant philandering with young girls, for example), Gabriel won't kill you, although what you do when confronted with your misdeeds ain't his problem. The people he kills tend to be people who are either extremely set in their ways or do really horrific things. NOTE: I WILL CONTACT THE MUN IN QUESTION BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS.
2. Gabriel's brand of justice in hilarious, but very specific to the nature of the crime, always. What is the most logical just dessert for your character? (Examples in canon include a hotheaded man known for his temper being killed by the Incredible Hulk, a philandering professor being stalked by a young dead girl, a man who does animal testing being eaten by an alligator, etc.)
3. If your character hits one of Gabriel's "trigger buttons" (i.e. insult or harm his family, etc.), how much force is Gabriel allowed to use in retaliation? Keep in mind that he will lash out if you continue to berate him and it's impossible for me to keep him IC and restrained. Gabriel will provoke people, but while he won't attack people who lash out at him when they provoke him, he will attack if you provoke him a certain way. My suggestion is if you don't want to get your ass kicked, avoid the hot button topics when face to face with him or he might put you through a wall. Also, if you hurt a member of his family (and this includes friends), he will end your world. AGAIN: I WILL CONTACT YOU BEFORE THIS HAPPENS.
If Your Character Is Anyone Else, please Dial 2
4. Is Gabriel allowed to make reference to events in your past? As an angel, he has quasi-omniscience. He'll often know your name before you give it and random details about your past. He's a little less blunt about doing this than, oh say, Castiel, but he might still do it. KEEP IN MIND. This is a SOUL thing, not a mind-reading thing, so if your character has psychic blocks, he can still feel things out. He doesn't know everything about a character- just the events that shaped them, little bits and bobs like that. Also, if your character doesn't have a soul, he won't be able to get a decent read off of them. He can tell inhumans by "feel"/smell, but that doesn't mean he knows what they can do or who they really are.
5. Does your character have psychic powers? If the answer is yes, BE ADVISED THAT IF YOU PROBE GABRIEL'S MIND, YOU MIGHT RISK LOSING YOUR EYES. A psychic tried to contact Castiel and went blind. It's likely that digging in Gabriel's mind could cause madness or blindness- don't worry, he can tell if you're trying and will warn you to STOP IT.
6. If sex were to ever occur with Gabriel, are you okay with handwaving? Gabriel is a slut. I'm asexual who feels uncomfortable writing sex. If you're not okay with handwaving, then... Keep turning his sorry ass down and never sleep with him. XD
If Your Character Wants To Beat the Shit Out of and/or Torture Gabriel, please Dial 3.
DO IT. DO IT. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO IT. If you can find a way to get him de-powered and at your mercy, I am okay with it. I won't compromise him at full power to have someone who might not otherwise be able to beat him.... Beat him, but I'm completely and utterly okay with horrible things happening to him and am flexible enough to figure out ways to get him into situations he can't get out of, so if you want to take a chunk out of him, I'm always okay with it, provided it's IC and we can figure out a logical way to make it happen.
Any further questions about the character and what you can and can't do, etc. may be discussed in this post.... Since I totally forgot everything I needed to say.

Posthumans: John Constantine
Date: 2010-12-23 08:13 am (UTC)There isn't much he hasn't gotten his hands dirty with. He's hit the Ten Commandments and the Cardinal Sins like to-do lists. He's a habitual thief, a professional addict, a con-man extraordinaire, a magician who's pulled stunts black enough to make some villains think twice, an occasional murderer, and he can literally lie to beat the Devil. He's well aware of Heaven, Hell, and things in between, and as far as he's concerned they're part of the problem. Not that he has a much higher opinion of humanity.
He once enacted a get-out clause for a friend's soul contract by shoving the Devil into a spring blessed by St. Patrick. He once cured himself of lung cancer by selling his soul to all three of the Infernal Triumvirate and then blackmailed them with the threat of civil war if they didn't heal him--and he didn't stop smoking. He once manipulated the archangel Gabriel into falling, then cut his heart out for leverage in a scheme and cut his wings off with a chainsaw for spite--not so much because he needed him for the con (though he did) as to take revenge for Gabriel being a smug untouchable bastard. He once seduced a man into falling in love with him, then drove him to suicide as revenge for framing John for a friend's death. As a child, he once nearly murdered his own father with a curse that he only rethought at the last minute. It worked out for him; his dad ended up in Hell anyway. And it's strongly implied that John strangled his twin brother to death while still in the womb.
Help yourself to all of it. But three things I'd rather you refer to only obliquely if they come up:
The Newcastle Incident: he once condemned an innocent little girl's soul to Hell by cockily summoning a demon he couldn't control. He was young then, and has never forgiven himself. In self-punishment, he deliberately committed himself to a mental institution where the staff spent two years torturing him in the belief he was a child rapist.
He once agreed to accept a demon's blood (the same demon who'd taken the little girl) in his veins in order to stop Heaven from bringing about the Second Coming. He then stopped Hell from bringing about the Anti-Christ. The demon's blood is still there.
Many years later (two weeks before he came into the game), another round of arrogance got his sister killed. He allowed himself to be possessed by a demon (the same one again), went to Hell to retrieve her stolen soul, and for his pains ended up getting her damned rather than saving her.
And in this world where none of the consequences can touch him, he's having pretty good luck ignoring all of that.
He needs someone to kick him in the face with his guilt occasionally or he tends to repeat his mistakes. But he doesn't allow people to fuck with him without making sure they wish they hadn't. He's a big one for the lose-lose proposition.
