Fine. Outside the temple. Thirty seconds. And these better be really good cookies, 'cause I wouldn't even eat Castiel's cat thanks to this Candyland crap.

[ Jade hangs up there. And you know, she can't quite teleport or move at the speed of light anymore, but she is able to fly really, really fast. So when she arrives outside the temple about three minutes later, her hair is a windblown mess and she's holding something wrapped in a paper towel. ]

If this isn't the best cookie you have ever literally eaten in your life, I will eat my own shoe, swear to anything.

The sit-down with the Animus went that bad, huh? [He holds out a hand for the cookie.]

[ She hands it to him with a little sigh and a nod. ]

Eat that, then I'll tell you all about it.

[Gabriel has zero reason to be suspicious of Jade. She's a kid and more than likely they told her to screw up and she's trying to make amends somehow, even if it's sort of pointless. He takes the cookie and bites into it.] For the record, you didn't have to butter me up just to tell me it didn't work.

Well.

[ She's watching him chew the cookie, biting her lip in a pretty classic expression of guilt. ]

I'm buttering you up in the hopes you'll be less mad when I tell you that, oops, I accidentally forgot what you told me about not making deals.

[He finishes the cookie.

He swallows the cookie.

He stares at Jade.]

What did you d-[And he promptly gets knocked backwards onto the ground by the force of his Grace coming back. MERRY CHRISTMAS.]

[Gabriel staggers back to his feet and over to Jade. He grips her by the shoulders. His hair's a little mussed and he has a wild look in his eyes that can only be attributed to SUDDEN GRACE OVERLOAD.] Jade. Jade. Pumpkin. Sweetie. Honey. What did you do?

[ And Jade simply beams at him, a look of absolute and unruffled pride. She is clearly caught halfway between pleased and relieved that it worked, and she bounces just the littlest bit on the balls of her feet, despite Gabriel's grip on her shoulders. ]

It's a Christmas miracle! Jeez, what the hell was in that cookie? It didn't do that to me when I ate one!

[ Grinning like a fool. ]

Jade, I've got my Grace back. That means I can tell when you're bullshitting.

[ He might be unamused, but that's not killing her smile. ]

Then I think the next step is you say 'Thank you, Jade!' and I say, 'Don't worry about it, Gabriel, that's what friends are for.'

[ She shakes her head, almost sedately amused when he offers to work it out. She reaches up to grab his hand from her ear, tapping gently against the center of his palm. ]

No, I'll work it out. Relax, Gabriel.

I'm completely relaxed. I got my Grace back. [Which means he can put up enough of a fight against Aelia if he has to... Not that it went so well the last time, but she played dirty. He can play dirty too.]

[ She releases his hand, jabbing him gently on the shoulder to make a point. ]

Okay, okay. I got it. [No he doesn't, but fair is fair. He's an impressively good liar, though. When he bothers with lies at all.] I can wash my hands of that glorified flower arrangement once and for all and go back to business as usual.
