She defended both of you when I obviously wasn't getting how much of a big deal this was for you, and if he wouldn't talk to anyone else, he ought to talk to the people he considers family, because that's what family does. No matter how bad you fuck up, when someone makes the effort to reach out to you, you don't throw it away and expect them to just pretend like it didn't happen.
Stop acting like he needs to be coddled when he hasn't convinced anyone, least of all the people who care about him, that he hasn't done anything wrong. He fucked up. If he's not gonna put up the effort, because he's in a delicate state, then he doesn't deserve it.
