The Oil doesn't sprout up, Gabriel. It's rare. Convince her to leave it alone. I'll even make a deal!

[Lucifer's fresh from Hell. That fire is about the only thing that frightens him. And a frightened Lucifer is a dangerous Lucifer.]

And if she keeps finding it, I'll just have to kill you both. Don't you get it? I can't let her endanger Michael. Or me. And I know you'd fall apart without her, so.... [A shrug that becomes contemplative halfway] You know, in the Pit, I kept wanting to call to you...but I thought they'd see you as a traitor if you reacted. Before the Ellysian, I would never have even considered killing you. I loved you, Gabriel. But I think it's going to get easier the more you make me do it.

[And all Gabriel can say to any of that is...]

[Really creepy. Also looking just the slightest bit like a kicked puppy.]

[He nods, too drunk to find any fault in that argument. He slings his arm around Gabriel's shoulders and half-leads, half-leans them both down the sidewalk.]

[And Gabriel just... Accepts this, because what are you gonna do? Argue with drunk Satan?] Think you mentioned that, but hey! Good for you guys. It'll make your place more homey.

You sound like Sam. [Because Lucifer had harassed the poor man over and over in the bar about it.]

Ugh. Please. I could deal with you threatening to kill me, but anything but that.

[He sighs.] Big, roomy... Full of emotionally stunted people. And I think there's a dead body in our panic room.

You know him? [Lucifer nudges him--it turns into a stronger gesture than he meant, thanks to the alcohol.] You get around.

And tell Jinx to stop killing people. It's unhygenic.

[His steps falter at the nudge.] We're old friends... In the sense that we kinda don't get along and I occasionally kill his brother a few times just to prove a point, but no big deal.

[EYE. ROLL.] Pretty sure it came with the building.

Not that Sam. [He'll see your eyeroll with one of his own.] Once they're hooked on one thing or another they're boring. I've got nothing to talk to poor little Sammy Winchester about.

You've been chattin' with Merlotte? The rough trade AGI bait that Pal Joey and his little pep squad work for? Since when?

A few weeks. [He bumps his head against Gabriel's, accidentally of course but it makes him seem oddly animalistic.] I like him, he's like--a smarter Dean. And he's why I'm drinking tonight. Who's Pal Joey?

[Gabriel edges away slightly, but is altogether grateful for the contact- more of it, anyway. Who knows when they might be like this again?] Remind me to send him a fruit basket. [He scoffs at the question.] Joe Fieldman. Little silver-haired punk. Sticks his nose in everything.

[Lucifer laughs a little.] You should. He's been teaching things. Useful things.

[He tries to place a face to the name but can't.] Tell 'im to keep his nose away from me.

Like... What? [A beat] So I know what to write on the card.

[Another eyeroll.] Can do.

Like...cooking. And how to go into a burning building. [A lengthy pause.] And other things but you'd just...be ridiculous about.

In my defense, Lucy, there's nothing not ridiculous about getting into a burning building. Can't be blamed for that one.

It wasn't holy fire, and he would've burned his paws off. [Yup. That is his haughty excuse for following Sam Merlotte on a rescue mission.]

I'm sure that sentence was supposed to make sense, but you're drunk, so who knows?

You've never seen him get naked? And turn into something? [And he thought you'd be a better busybody, for shame.]

Gabriel. Why do you like naked human bodies? What is it that appeals to you? I thought maybe you just liked gods--maybe you didn't care how filthy they are--but now you live with one. And I can safely say she's been naked with you.

[Which is disgusting. Less disgusting than Kali, but only barely.]

I don't understand it. I've tried. I did a lot of things to Lilith.... Is it because you have a body? [GENUINE CURIOSITY. The intense scrutiny only the drunk can manage.] I tried that, too.
